MEMO
This is a variation of the Densho-shinka model.
In this piece, the process of gathering the pleats in the Densho-shinka “Bind type” is performed inside out.
It has a different feel from the original Densho-shinka; the petals, springing outward from the center of the unit, look just like a real flower.
Like other variations of the Densho-shinka, this work can be decorated with traditional kusudama parts—to be inserted into the center of the part.
The name of this piece, “Lilium rubellum,” refers to a lily species that blooms in summer. Native to Japan, it grows wild in certain mountainous areas of the Tohoku region and is considered an endangered species.
