This is a kusudama of Bind type, assembled with threads and strings. It’s a fairly old piece I created back in 2005. I made quite a few Bind Type kusudamas until 2009, but for some reason, I stopped making them after that.

When it comes to traditional origami kusudama, the type tied with thread is the classic. So, I’ve recently been thinking that maybe I should make a few more.

One of the fun parts of making a Bind Type kusudama is the process of attaching the tassels. I find myself thinking, “What color should I make the tassels?” and considering various color combinations to match the piece. It might also be fun to use decorative ribbons instead of tassels.

The folding method shown in the diagram is actually a modified version that differs slightly from the original. It’s a bit more challenging, but it results in a more beautiful shape than the original. (I think.)



糸で括るタイプのくす玉です。2005年創作のかなり古い作品。
2009年までは、結構、糸で括るくす玉を作っていたのですが、それ以降はなぜか作らなくなってしまいました。

折り紙の伝承のくす玉といえば、糸で括るくす玉。なので、もうちょっと作ってみてもいいかな。と、最近は思ったり。

糸で括るくす玉は、房をつける工程も楽しいところ。何色の房にしようかな。と、作品の色との組み合わせをあれこれ考えたり。
房の代わりに飾り紐をつけるのも、楽しいかも。

今回の折り図に掲載の折り方は、実はオリジナルとはちょっと違う改変タイプです。難易度が少し上がっていますが、オリジナルよりも綺麗なフォルムに仕上がっています。（と、思います。）
