Manjushage / 曼珠沙華（まんじゅしゃげ）

Manjushage is one of a series of pieces I call “Fake unit“, it was created in 2008.
Works in “Fake unit” are pieces that have flaps or pockets on parts of the piece, but they do not function properly.

It is very difficult to assemble because the parts are weakly connected to each other and come off very easily. It is “Modular type”, but actually “Paste type”, because it requires the help of adhesives.

A part of Manjushage also has flaps and pockets, but parts come off easily too.
I recommend using glue.

The work’s name “Manjushage” means a real flower “Lycoris radiata (L’Hér.) Herb”.



「曼珠沙華（まんじゅしゃげ）」は2008年に創作された、フェイクユニットシリーズのひとつ。

「フェイクユニット」とは、ユニット作品のようにみえて、実は貼り合わせタイプの作品。
どういうことかと言うと、作品のパーツにはきちんとフラップとポケットがあるのに、組み立てると繋がり方が弱く、外れやすいので、結局、接着剤の助けが必要になる、ということです。

接着剤の助けなしに組み立てることも可能かもしれませんが、まぁ、もしできたらあっぱれ。だすな。
